Samba de Roda is the oldest and most traditional form of samba developed by African descendants in Brazil. It is danced in a circle with bare feet. Then dance involves controlled hip swinging with small foot movements performed to drums and percussion instruments from Candomble houses. This class will teach the movements, customs, and history of Samba de Roda as well as samba in the context of capoeira.
